Skydiving on the Opale Coast...

THE MAIN DISCIPLINES

RELATIVE WORK
  • Relative work is the most practiced discipline in France. It can be practised only if you have a B2 level which allows you to fly with several skydivers.

  • The 4 or 8 team has to perform a sequence of imposed figures which are different each jump. Their goal is to do the highest number of figures in 35 seconds for the 4-way and 50 seconds for the 8-way.

FREEFLY
  • Born in the 90's,this discipline gathers all the flying positions. It offers great sensations due to the three dimensions used. Freeflyers usually fly head-up, head-down, carving.

  • To practice it safely, a B4 level is required.

WINGSUIT
  • Apart from the other skydiving disciplines, wingsuits appeared in the mid-90's thanks to Patrick de Gayardon.

  • Composed of a suit with fabrick wings between legs and arms, the air goes in the fabrick shaping a cell-pressurized wing creating lift. The best suits today allow a glide ratio around 3 (meaning if you fall 1000 ft you travel 3000ft).

  • The skydiver's movements directly effect the wing shape so the suit really needs to be piloted. With skill, wingsuit pilots are able to move up (relative to other jumpers), down, accelerate and slow down...
